line statement

my interest is the line, what creates it, how to render it, how to use it; lines by myself, by others; lines in nature, in physics, in mathematics.

le dessin est beau si la ligne est vivante (jean cocteau)

the line fascinates me because it is the foundation of drawing, and that of visual art; because the line is the thread in the weave of space; because the line is a metaphor for motion, and hence for time, and for music.

my work is a reflexion, a meditation on the line.

it has been said that drawing is gesture: it can be that, but it can also be much more than that.

drawing is also an idea of a motion, a prelude to gestures, a gift of time.

drawing is just a thought.

even in modern art, artists have used methods based on calculation, inasmuch as these elements, alongside those of a more personal and emotional nature, give balance and harmony to any work of art.
