"cycling apparati", solwayjones gallery, los angeles

michael solway and angela jones opened in a new location in la's chinatown with a new show "cycling apparati", featuring work by alice aycock, michael decker, marcel duchamp, jean-pierre hébert, david horvitz, branden koch, dana maiden, dane picard and alan rath. "cycling apparati" addresses notions of lineage, time, movement and mechanism. the exhibition opened september 6 and will be on view through october 18, 2008.

i present dynamic views of malevich's piece in "the cycling of red square black square", and two alternating software pieces for wall mounted display, animated renderings of the metagon series.

it is not obvious geometrical configurations that will be the richest in possibilities, but hidden ones, emerging unnoticed from the canvas and meant for the soul rather than the eye.
